The Associated Broadcasting Company Pvt Ltd (ABCL), which runs a clutch of regional news channels, is gearing up to launch a new channel for the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh.
TV9-NewsThe company has got the approval of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) to change the name of its TV channel licence to TV9 AP from TV9 Kolkata.
The development comes in the wake of the central government bifurcating the state of Andhra Pradesh into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, with the latter comprising Coastal Andhra and the Rayalaseema regions.
ABCL chief financial officer MKVN Murthy said that the company is ready to launch the channel any day now that the ministry has approved the name change of its licence.
MKVN Murthy“We are looking to launch TV9 AP in a month or so once the bifurcation of the state is complete. We are waiting to see how things are rolling out in the new state of AP, particularly which city will be the state’s capital,” said Murthy.
