That means govt may have to wait for at least 2-3 years more for passage of UCC bill if they are planning to introduce......

I think certain current personal laws are antiquated & based on certain centuries old customs....Like a Muslim can marry up to 4 wives or Christians not able to adopt child etc....
So only Uniform Civil Code based on Hindu Code Bill is the way ahead.....

India is already having skewed sex ratio. So no one should be allowed to keep more than one wife. I am strongly against this.

This is an excellent old article by BG Verghese regarding this......
Who's afraid of a Uniform Civil Code?

BOOKFirstDraftSmall.jpg

The Supreme Court’s lament about the country’s failure to adopt a uniform civil code as enjoined by Article 44 has revived a debate that will hopefully not again be swept under the carpet. The entire issue has unfortunately been distorted and misdirected from its very inception. Ideologues have deliberately used it as a stick with which to beat the minorities, and Muslims in particular, through the threat of a majoritarian homogenising principle destructive of the precious identity markers seen in the existing diversity of personal laws.

There is one more view.....
Catholic group in India opposes proposal to implement Uniform Civil Code
A Catholic group in Mumbai has opposed a proposal to implement uniform civil code in India, which will end Christians and Muslims having their own personal laws for marriage and inheritance.

The Catholic Secular Forum (CSF) general secretary, Joseph Dias has said that Christians were against a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) foisted upon the minorities.

According to Joseph Dias, Catholic Church has a Canon Law, which is followed all over the world and regulates family issues like, divorce, marriage and inheritance, implemented by Ecclesiastical Courts. The government's move "would be ultra vires of the Constitutional right to freedom of religion and gives the impression that the BJP government would like to control especially the minorities and its property or institutions by weakening the authority of religious leadership," Dias said.

IndianMascot the Govt may apply Goa Uniform Civil Code to entire country.

Goa is the only state in the country where UCC is in force. All are treated equally.

Sanjeev bro and scorpionking76 no court can scrap the legislation of UCC as Article 44 of Directive principles already states that UCC must be made applicable.

These is already a provisions kept, only law needs to be passed.
