With nearly 10,000 Indian migrant workers rendered jobless in Saudi Arabia, Minister of State for External Affairs General (retired) V K Singh has been sent once again to resolve issues pertaining to their “repatriation” and “relocation within Saudi Arabia”, officials said Friday.

Singh, who had visited Saudi Arabia last month, went there a couple of days ago and visited one of the camps in Jeddah Thursday. Indian diplomats accompanied the minister, officials said. “He listened to the concerns of migrant workers. He will meet Saudi authorities to resolve the issues,” an Indian diplomat in Riyadh said.

Officials said welfare of Indian workers in Saudi Arabia was a priority. They said that after Singh’s discussions with Saudi authorities, they had agreed to speed up the process of repatriation of workers willing to return, and also assist those who wish to relocate to other companies in Saudi Arabia.
