May be thats why these DTH don't add channels inspite of signing contracts with broadcasters......so that slowly they can add channels & justify price hike regularly........
^^ And TS, d2h and Airtel are front runner on this when they require to hike the base pack price they make space and add channels to justifies the decision, in last couple of price hike was done by Videocon, Airtel followed by TS.
The only way to keep prices under check is to add all popular SD and HD channels plus add many non popular channels for carriage fee. Carriage fee channels helps earn good revenue and some revenue is earned from what customers pay For SD and HD channels. This helps DTH ops earn money plus be affordable and that's the reason for Videocon d2h's success. If other operators do this then well and good otherwise people will opt more for Videocon d2h or Digital Cable

Just compare Package Pricing and Channels given by Videocon d2h to what Dish TV, Tata Sky or Airtel gives at that price. Videocon d2h is most affordable, no DTH operator is even close to them. Dish TV is the worst, they arenot only costly but they keep removing channels from packages regularly
