Will it be possible to upgrade the existing old HD STB to this one?

Hope they come for exchange offer as i found the black one real inferior in quality.
Well well just spoke to one of the service engineer. The offer is up for grabs for exchange offers for first 1000 customers. Recharge your account with 6 month and pay one time recording fee for 199+ Rs. 30 PM for recording and you can get the new STB for free. Approximately Rs. 3100/- The best part about this STB is the powerful remote which can work form a distance as far as 75 Foot... and just as Bose remote it can work across walls and rooms. (as told by service eng. Need to validate).The STB will come with 8 GB pen drive. I am planning to get it in a day or two will share details... once it's installed. Also as expected the HD channel count will go up fro m 22 to 30 by aug end.

is this LTR offer for just first 1000 customers? i have still 11 mth platinum hd pack but i want this new stb. so is it vital to recharge for 6 mth platinum HD for upgrade to new box now...or can get this LTR offer after 11 mths?

There is no such restriction like 1st 1000 customer. I have enquired about it and its not tue.
Still you have a long time . May be in 11 month, they might launch even better model.
And still if you want to go ahead. You may pay for another 6 month and upgrade to HD-2222 model.
