GSM service provider Videocon Telecom has rolled-out Wi-Fi service in the Punjab circle and is planning to expand its Wi-Fi service in other circles, where it operates.
"We have already started doing Wi-Fi hotspots in Punjab in some key pockets, where the data demand is surging," Arvind Bali, Director and CEO of Videocon Telecom told ETTelecom.
The company has partnered with Chinese telecom equipment vendor Huawei to deploy solutions for Wi-Fi hotspot network in the Punjab circle. "Huawei is the main vendor for the Punjab circle. The company is providing solutions for the Wi-Fi hotspots," Bali said.
Besides, the company is also in touch with two more companies, including an Israeli vendor. Bali said that the company plans to expand its Wi-Fi service in other circles, where it operates. "We will do tie-ups with other players to create more Wi-Fi zones," he added.
