ideocon Industries Ltd (VIL) plans to demerge its telecom business, Videocon Telecom Ltd (VTL), into six new group companies by circles, in the run up to exiting the mobile services business in four of these including UP-East, UP-West, Bihar and Gujarat, three people aware of the matter told ET.

The demerger proposal is likely to be considered at VIL's next board meeting slated for end of this month, one of the people said. "Under the proposed demerger exercise, the six new companies will issue equity shares to VTL's current shareholders," this person said.
