First Weekend (4 Days) Box Office Collection: Vijay Starrer beats SS Rajamouli's 'Baahubali' in Chennai.

Vijay's "Puli" has got a dream opening in Chennai in its first weekend. The underlining part of the story is that the Tamil movie has beaten SS Rajamouli's magnum opus "Baahubali".

Behindwoods reports that "Puli" has raked in Rs 2.84 crore in its first weekend at the Chennai box office. The movie had 465 shows, in which it enjoyed an average of 90% occupancy in the four days. Indeed, it has smashed the record of "Baahubali", which had collected Rs 1.66 crore from 363 shows from its two versions (Tamil and Telugu).

'Puli' Tamil Nadu Business
Meanwhile, "Puli" has done an impressive business in its first weekend in Tamil Nadu. The trade reports say that the flick has earned Rs 32 crore with a net business of Rs 27 crore in the opening weekend. The coming days are crucial for the movie as the film has to make good business to recover its invested money of Rs 100+ crore.

This is too much of comparison.Bahubali is a dubbed movie where as puli is original tamil movie so obviously it can beat Bahubali in chennai.question is can it beat bahubali over all collections??NO.
A Rajini movie can not beat any Telugu Super hero collections in Hyderabad there is no point of news in it.

It is only for Chennai market as it is clearly said and collections differ accordingly. Bahubaali is a bilingual films in which majority of talkie portions shot in Tamil too.

Agree and note my point also. There is absolutely NO market for telugu films in TN even they are dubbed or Bilingual.Comparing to Puli with bahubali that too in Chennai is comparing rajini movie with any Telugu super hero in Hyderabad. Both are absurd.

Baahubali was a massive hit here in TN so comparing it is no wrong. That is my view. There is a market for Telugu films too.
