Puli is a 2015 action-fantasy film directed by Chimbudevan and has Vijay and Shruti Hassan in the lead. The film joined the 100 crore club according to latest reports by the Tamil media.
Vijay’s fantasy action film “Puli” released on 1st October and went on to receive mixed to negative reviews from the critics. However, Vijay fans seemed to enjoy the film and turns out the film is a hit going by the collections. The film managed to cross 55 crores in its opening weekend which makes it one of the highest-grossing films of this year in its opening weekend.
The film raised anticipations to be fare similarly like the magnificent “Baahubali”, since it released subsequently and is of a similar genre with a budget as much. But, the film eventually disappointed and went on to lose the race.
The film marks the comeback of legendary SriDevi playing the main antagonist which helped the movie to pull crowds who were curious to watch her after a long break and also her fans. The film stars Shruti Hassan and Hansika romancing Vijay who plays Marudheeran in the film.
The film also released simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi with its dubbed versions and went to perform decently in both the languages. The audience from Telugu seemed to receive the film well. All these factors collectively helped the movie to join the famous 100 crore club. The film is among the few Tamil films that could make it to this club.
