The municipal body polls in Katwa (West Bengal) which began smoothly at 7 am amid tight security on Saturday, turned ugly when a Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker was shot dead outside the polling booth.
The TMC worker, named Indrajeet Singh was shot dead on the spot whereas another TMC leader has been hospitalised after suffering bullet injuries.
The TMC worker was allegedly shot dead by a Congress worker. The police is investigating the matter and the situation has been brought under control.
