TV Search and EPG Company - What’s On India Media Private Limited has acquired a local EPG company in Amman, Jordan. The acquisition is a part of its expansion in Middle East.
The company has also set up What’s-On-Arabia office in Jordan and is in the process of setting another in Dubai, UAE.
With this expansion, What’s-On-India will offer EPGs for India, Sri Lanka and the Middle East for more than a thousand TV channels.
What’s-On-India, founded by Atul Phadnis and owned by Intel, Sequoia Capital and Nexus VP, is a TV Search and EPG Company. The company’s Technology vertical powers EPG Metadata content from 1000+ TV channels into more than 20 Mn Set-Top-Boxes and devices on the destination end.
The media vertical of the company runs the "What's-On-India" channel that is currently available in more than 30 Mn households across DTH and Cable besides other media assets such as portals, widgets and apps on tablets.
In the space, Gradiente Infotainment was planning to acquire Hindi general entertainment channels for R50 Cr for expansion.
The company was also planning to form JV with overseas digital media and entertainment houses for digital advertising services and is currently in talk with companies based in Hong Kong and Singapore.
