WHAT'S NEW
Your messages, photos, videos, voice messages, documents, and calls are now secured with end-to-end encryption, which means WhatsApp and third parties can't read or listen to them. Messages are automatically end-to-end encrypted: no turning on settings or setting up special secret chats to secure your messages. End-to-end encryption is available when you and the people you message are on the latest versions of WhatsApp. Learn more at WhatsApp :: Security

But if it is end to end encrypted then when the device is changed the encryption should change. And the backed up msgs should be rendered useless

Bro here are my thoughts
If the messages are encrypted at my device and being decrypted at other end then the backup of messages should not work. Because once I change my device my encryption key should change as well.
If the key is not changing then they must be storing the key somewhere. So it is not at all secure.
