So single tick mark for msg sent, double for delivered and adding color in it means message is read. It's working like outlook and Lotus notes.

Yes whatsapp consume lot of battery so ti save that I have turned off the notification setting so that my phone remains alive till evening

Whatsapp is good for these days when mobile companies charge for SMSs and this update is not at all good because earlier an excuse was made such that messages werent read although delivered.
