A day after media reports on disclosure by new Mumbai police commissioner Ahmed Javed, that Sheena Bora murder case accused Indrani and her husbandPeter Mukerjea are acquainted to him, the Maharashtra government, in a sudden move on Friday, announced its plans to hand over the probe to the CBI.

Admitting 'media speculation' as one of the reasons, KP Bakshi, additional secretary (home), claimed CBI is also better equipped to probe the case as economic offences could be a key motive behind the murder.

Any official statement on it ? His transfer was signed 3 months back when Lalit modi accepted his meeting with him in London and when Home Secretary asked reason from Maria, he was not able to justify his meeting.

I think he has been handed a letter of his promotion and some say he was targetted as he is investigating the Sheena murder case
