Crude is the raw form. Refining and lpt of other processes r involved to finally makr it into an usable form. Plus there r many costs like transportation feom foreign countries them to all over India, profit margins for oil companies, dealer margins and host of other costs. So iy can't be given at Rs. 19 or even at 32. Taxes r also there

Prateek Marwadi Get your facts clear bhai.

125% includes Central Excise, Custom, Sales Tax, State VAT, Education Cess etc

Even if you break it up

Excise & Custom = 14%
State VAT = 28% (max in Rajansthan i guess)
Education Cess = 0.50 per litre

Another 70% tax is required for acquiring and processing the crude oil.

Regarding low prices of neighbouring country its directly related to the Exchange rate. Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka have very high Exchange rate hence Petrol prices are cheaper there.

These are government figures bro. And that's why someone said that America playes an important role in petrol prices because Exchange rates are calculated as per dollar.
but if exchange rate is higher than the import price of any commodity which is traded at dollar factor only.
cannot b possible bro.
if crude is at 50 per barrel
then for whole world it is common.
in india = 66 *50
n in pakistan it has to b = 100 * 50

in neighboring SL, the basic commodity is double the cost of INR. so it is useless to compare with neighboring countries.
