But I have the key for windows 7 home basic and i have upgraded to windows 7 home premium and that key i dont have

It would prompt you once the upgrade is ready to install and you need to permit it to install..

oh.. then I have not got any prompt till now, but something is downloading as yesterday when I started my laptop it was showing Windows is updating for a long time before it logged in

Yes we can do that but at the end it will ask for product key of your version then only the setup will be completed and tour windows 10 will be genuine

It ask for key in start only and that too for fresh installation.

That's what has been confusing many as they are not sure how many days it would keep on downloading to ensure its ready to be installed bro. MS has been pushing the updates slowly as they are trying to minimize the load on the servers..
