Anoa'i is half-Samoan and half-Italian.[80] Both his father, Sika, and his brother, Matt, are professional wrestlers. As a member of the Anoa'i family, he is a cousin to fellow professional wrestlers Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Yokozuna, Rikishi Fatu, Umaga, and the Usos.[9][81]
At the Georgia Institute of Technology, Anoa'i studied management.[1]
Anoa'i married Galina Joelle Becker in early December 2014.[3] He has a daughter, with whom he appeared in a public service announcement in June 2014
