It now seems to be all but confirmed that WWE SmackDown will indeed be moving to Thursday nights starting on October 2nd. That's because Syfy's television schedule is now listing that all SmackDown's after the Friday September 26 episode will air on Thursdays from 8:00 PM.
It's worth noting that SmackDown will be the lead-in for Haven, which had already been announced as moving to Thursdays at 10:00 PM. The supernatural drama features former WWE Superstar Adam Copeland, aka Edge, in a recurring role, so the hope will be that some SmackDown viewers will stick around to watch that show too.
The rumours that SmackDown would be changing nights started a couple of weeks ago when a WWE fan uploaded a picture to Instagram of a newly modified WWE production truck with a graphic clearly advertising "WWE SmackDown Thursdays 8/7c [on] Syfy".
At the time WWE confirmed that they were in discussions with Syfy to moveSmackDown to that new time slot, but that a deal had not been agreed to yet, despite the updated production trucks, which they blamed on an overzealous employee jumping the gun before the move was official.
