Ads are less as of now, isn't it? When ad free means then be ready to pay ala carte for rs,60PM.
Still we have other Ad Free sources isn't it ?

My point is about cost to subscribe HD channel and too hold SD channel in the base pack which we avoids too.

I remember the day when Zee cinema was launched initially they used to run 1 movie in the evening ... gradually they started day service on Sundays.... after a year they encrypted the signal & cable operators had to subscribe to telecast the channels... We used to have neighbor cable wala.. with small operator room & big dish ... i saw the first digital set top box then which was provided by Zee ... if i am not wrong zee cinema was the first channel to be encrypted and first pay channel in that era ....
Its fond memories of childhood ... say in 1993, 1994 Initial days our cable operator used to give 5 channels & used to charge 100 INR ... Star TV (English), MTV, Prime Sports (later became star sports), BBC & Cable channel for Movies...
Later Zee started transmission from 7 PM to 10 PM.... i remember shows like snakes & ladder & zee then tested EL TV then we started getting DD 2 ... old channels like Home TV,

Just found an interesting page which gives you an idea how the television channel logo has changed or evolved with changing times ...
watch it

One should start a movement like Net neutrality for HD access fee, and customer should be independent to choose for HD or SD pack. People rarely watch SD channels if they are on HD pack, so it would be better to make a separate package for HD channels. Government has to do something, companies will obviously don't do that.

There is already a rigorous movement for net neutrality running by and over one lakh emails already sent to TRAI. Even government is thinking to seriously consider net neutrality.
