Television, once considered a luxury for any household in India, has progressed by leaps and bounds, and so has the fascination for big-screen TVs. And the transformation fromLCDs to LEDs has been even swifter. But most of us put on hold our dream of buying a 50-inch TV unless we have our own houses, given the deep hole it burns in our pockets. Micromax LED TV: Enhance your movie-watching experience | The Financial Express
Do you know that Micromax also makes TVs? Do not be surprised but with its LED TV range, the homegrown mobile phone maker is making a serious attempt to carve a niche for itself in the fast-growing entertainment market, largely dominated by the Korean and Japanese brands.

Review on Time of India
More than two years after foraying into the LED television segment, Micromax, which is still mainly known for its smartphones, has launched a new 50-inch Full-HD model. The highlight of the TV is its affordable price. At Rs 39,990, the tv is almost Rs 20,000 cheaper than comparable models from brands like LG and Samsung.
Will Micromax be able to make a mark for itself in the LED TV category with the new model? Is is really a value-for-money proposition? We try to find out in our review...
Build & design
Micromax 50B5000FHD LED tv will not really turn heads when it comes to looks but it's not unpleasant to look at. It features a rather utilitarian angular design devoid of curves. The bezels are not very wide which is a good thing, and sport a brushed textured finish which is a little rough. The buttons for power, volume control, channel and source (input) tucked under the bottom edge, look and feel very plasticky and lack refinement. Having said that, these offer good tactile feedback.
