Superseding its earlier order, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting’s (MIB) Inter Ministerial Committee (IMC) has handed out an even more stringent punishment to Gujarati news channel Satlon News, owned by the prominent Gujarati newspaper company Sandesh Ltd. The IMC has prohibited the transmission or re-transmission of Satlon News channel for 30 days on any platform throughout India with effect from 15 April to 14 May for violation of programme code of the Cable Television Network Act, 1994.

On 28 April 2014 at 10.27:22 hours, the channel had telecast a news report on a private corporate party organised in a five-star hotel on the Pune–Mumbai highway. In the report, the channel had carried actors’ nude visuals which were not sufficiently morphed or blurred.

"Satlon News is not the only channel to be at the receiving end of the IMC that looks into programming code violations. The ministry also issued similar orders against DY 365, TLC, and NDTV Good Times for non-adherence to programme code.

The ministry directed these channels to remain off air from 9 to 10 April. However, following representation by the broadcasters, the MIB deferred its orders to pull these channels off air."

So why only Sandesh news is being asked to go off air......?
