Superseding its earlier order, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting’s (MIB) Inter Ministerial Committee (IMC) has handed out an even more stringent punishment to Gujarati news channel Satlon News, owned by the prominent Gujarati newspaper company Sandesh Ltd. The IMC has prohibited the transmission or re-transmission of Satlon News channel for 30 days on any platform throughout India with effect from 15 April to 14 May for violation of programme code of the Cable Television Network Act, 1994.
On 28 April 2014 at 10.27:22 hours, the channel had telecast a news report on a private corporate party organised in a five-star hotel on the Pune–Mumbai highway. In the report, the channel had carried actors’ nude visuals which were not sufficiently morphed or blurred.
