It will definitely not going to match up because of compression technique and other technical factors but is enough to close the shop of HD.

Yes otherwise I never saw any need of HD channel. Since broadcasters themselves degrade the quality of SD channels the one have to buy HD channel for crystal quality video.

When it comes to video, TV screen size matters. I can easily find the PQ difference b/w 720p & 1080p on a Full HD LED 40 inch TV
