Hope some Hathway Delhi user saw this thread and come up to clear the doubts.
HELP which cable TV operator is comparable to DTH in Delhi ?

guys, just an update. The local cable operator came and talked. he confirmed 24 channels 
I might only go for base SD pack for now.
I have one additional doubt - he said I might have to install and additional amplifier. what is this amplifier and how does this impact signal quality ?. is there going to be a problem.

You have to buy stb only no need to buy any amplifier.seems he is third party lco not direct hathway.you said you want HD channels then why are you going to sd pack?guys, just an update. The local cable operator came and talked. he confirmed 24 channels

sandys, must be in your area or building the cable signal is little weak, hence your cable guy is suggesting you install a amplifier to boost the signal, so that u receive strong signals.
OK, so its 24 HD channels ........ may be in coming months they may add, you cant predict MSO these days.
HD pack in hathway and DEN is Rs 150. if ur not going to watch any HD channels, then as you said go for SD pack.
But go for a HD STB as SD channels Pic Quality/Audio quality will be better. Also the STB software is very good in HD STB than SD one.

bang on.. that's what I'm thinking. currently I connect my Airtel IPTV STB through HDMI. I have no intention of plugging in any other cables. So I'm planning on getting the HD STB only. The reason I'm not already going for it is I'm considering whether I should get something now or wait for a couple of other services that are rumored to be launching in December.
I'm not very happy with the fact that Hathway STB has only 24 channels. Not sure what the overall experience is going to be like
otherwise I would have gone for it by now.
I'm thinking there is not enough ROI on this pack. Might as well wait for when they add more channels. I watch Comedy Central a lot, etc. which is anyway not on HD in Hathway.

Hathway started very late in Delhi of their hd service comparing to other cities.its ur wish to choose one digital cable according to ur wish
I actually thought that DTH and Cable channel selection were similar. But it seems to me that there are vast differences. It's a hard decision - if I had decent channel packages on cable, I would have jumped by now. I'm considering waiting for a while to see if I can jugaad some way to get a dish or wait for better packages on cable.

DTH and Digital cable have their own plus and minus.DTH plus point is where ever you go you will get all the channels which you want,DTH wont depends on Place but cable does.i dont think hathway will increase the channels list in near future in Delhi.delhi and pune they have started their HD service little bit late but in Pune they are adding HD channels time to time.But completely neglecting Delhi.if it is Mumbai i will recommend hathway because their concentration always on Mumbai.they will add many channels over there.
