If they will charge for stb, then maximum will switch to other dth.
clearly no, charge for old user i.e. Before 2010 but cant say about new [like me, i take connection on april 2011 but mine is mpeg2, may be from old stock ]
if we calculate 1000 crore for 6 million user then 1 stb = 1650

I have another logic to share. If tata sky thinks that by not moving to mpeg4 they are anyway going to lose heavy number of customers, just this as if they are launching a free stb scheme like d2h where d2h provide hd box on commitment of 1yr subscription. Here also tata sky will keep on earning from already mpeg4 people and will retain those who are not in mpeg4. And meanwhile they will come in market by having more channels which is as of now biggest drawback of tata sky.

Yes, ts has likely zero business in south [ who will go only with 13 telugu, 4 malyalam, 12 kannada,] then in hindi market they are also back in HD channels. In this situation how can one go with tatasky, if any one go by mistake, he will gives negative feedback to his respective. And public review is very good medium to promote your product. If you fail then no effect of othe medium

Making customer wait one more year for channel doesn't sound a good decision by Tata Sky. Sun and reliance are already on merger. Post merger they will steal the No.1 position from Dish TV. Tata will be one 3rd and airtel is anyway giving tough competition to Tata sky in terms of channel and quality.

So, if Tata Sky need to maintain the pace, they have to work faster than fastest .

Im bhai you are right, but this can be gimmick by tata sky to get some more time because no any action started by ts . In between this if they get tp then they can take more time to replace mpeg4 stb and use mpeg4 after failure of insat4a.

Could be bro. But if nothing has been done regarding satellite allocation of GSAT 10 till now, it will take more than 3-4 months.

Guys if you could remember that we were working for an open position with D2H for Area Head Sales position for certain cities in TamilNadu at that point of time i came across a person who works in TS - Chennai as are head sales. He gave me some updates on Channel addition which i had posted in some thread which i dont remember. That person called me today and conveyed me that TS is going to send SMS very soon to all the MPEG 2 customers stating that they have to replace their MPEG 2 to MPEG 4 STB's on or before Sep 25th after that period if the customer wish to change to MPEG 4 STB they will have to pay Rs. 500 extra.

He also told me that they very very soon with respect to Tamil Channels like Adithya, Makkal TV etc., will not be available in MPEG 2 STBs they will also do the same for other regional channels too...the person also told me that TS will add channels very soon...with respect to tamil channels they will be at par with their competitors very soon...further TS is now going to focus kerala market too...
