If your logic is correct then how Old English movies which are taken from VHS as source are coming in Proper HD.we can take lot of examples for this.Jurassic park,evil dead etc.SD channels never have the same resolution what HD channels have.Might be PQ will be differ based content but suresly resolution will be same in SD 480P as well as In HD it is 1080P.

Not HD but downscaled HD feed, it might be good but not in 1080i.

Nothing is confusing,
480p for SD,
720p for HD ready
1080p for full heady.
You would find diff in TVs' above 40".

I am no where saying HD and SD is equal but I am saying SD channels can run HD contents.

PQ is not good that is broadcaster's issue but PQ resolution is surely 1080i.
