Government should reprimand these MNC (Star Sports group) looters they are gaining in muscle and have started becoming goons... They want to do business on their own terms ....If gov. do not do take any step it would be very difficult later to control them.

Since now current Govt. supporting FDI I am not expecting anything from them. This Foreign Agencies will one day eat our Indian firms, television industry will totally captured by this Star India tat there will be no other option except them.

Nothing wrong with what Star Sports has said, why should DTH and Cable TV customers get the matches for free, the Section 3 of the Prasar Bharti act which makes signal sharing of International Matches India plays compulsory is for people who just receive DD channels for Terrestrial viewing, in no way it should be available for Cable or DTH . This clearly leads to loss of revenue as broadcasters pay huge amount of getting rights for these events and even though DD gives 75 percent of revenue earned thru ads in these matches with concerned broadcaster but as Ad rates of DD are very low so still it is loss making for the broadcaster. Star or any other broadcaster will lose money not only thru ad revenue but also thru subscription rvenue

I totally disagree there is nothing such as loss of revenue to ESS. People who watch match in DD are from lower section of the society either cable subscribers or DTH subscribers. They gat to watch match because of DD if DD do not broadcast the match these companies will have no competition and can charge any amount they want. I still think sports channel in India is any ways overpriced ...government should tighten the screws ....if a channel has to be subscribed then they should not be allowed to air unlimited advertisement. If they carry advertisement then the channel should be graciously priced.....

STAR SPORTS, FOX Sports took back their operation from Pakistan because of one reason and that is PTV Sports. Every Private channel no matter it is TEN Sports or GEO Sports have to share Live event with Pubcaster. Tats a reason running separate feed making things costly here DD Sports a kind of 3rd class channel having no respect. DD Sports not even allowed for Terrestrial Medium because of Private channels and DD wants to show some event they have to simply bought the rights. What the hell....... every poor people of this country has rights to watch Live Match many don't has money to pay Rs. 520 for Platinum HD pack of some DTH. They wants to see match after digitization cable already become costly thing now what to them who're using starter pack of some MSO which don't consists stupid STAR SPORTS what they will do ? Today India is captured be some Foreign jerks who are crying and pleading for money but not wants to quit the Country and STAR SPORTS is one of them who're looting people by the name SD and HD.

DD to appeal against Delhi HC’s order barring sharing of 2015 WC feed with cable ops

The countdown to the 2015 Cricket World Cup has begun, and even as teams gear to battle it out on ground, back home, public broadcaster Doordarshan is up for another challenge. This, after the Delhi High Court on 4 February came out with its order which barred Doordarshan from sharing the live feed of the 2015 Cricket World Cup, of which ESPN and Star have the exclusive broadcasting rights, with cable operators.

As per DD legal experts, an appeal will be filed in the Supreme Court since the directive of the High Court militates against the must-carry clause and the Sports Broadcasting Signals (Mandatory Sharing with Prasar Bharati) Act 2007.

DD officials said the Mandatory Sharing Act was clear that matches would have to be shared with DD on its terrestrial network and via its direct-to-home Freedish. An official said the directive by the Court appeared to be a precautionary measure aimed at warning cable operators who pirate the signals and not Doordarshan.

Its said that Star is getting more than 75% revenue from subscriptions..........may be thats the reason.....
Let cable guys handle this.......They know better how to deliver content.........
BTW why BCCI is a party with Star in all this.......?
