MSO clearances finally cross 550 with less than 4 weeks left for completing Phase III of DAS

New Delhi: The number of multi system operators has raced to 553 by 24 November from around 470 early this month, as the government races to prepare to meet the deadline of completing the third phase of digital addressable system.
Of these, 230 have got ten-year licences with three provisional licencees getting permanent licences, and a total of 323 (against 246 early this month) getting provisional licences. One temporary licencee was also given permanent licence till 2024 after its area of operation was changed.

NASHIK: The district administration has asked cable operators to provide customers in urban areas beyond the city civic limits with set-top boxes by December 31 as decided by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) .

Yes, All urban areas (Urban, Semi Urban), and other adjacent areas of Municipalities. Also areas which have been classified as Census Towns (CT) as per the 2011 census.

Broadcasting sector regulator TRAI today asked all cable TV subscribers under phase III of digitisation drive to get Set Top Boxes (STBs) to avail uninterrupted TV services before the deadline of December 31, 2015.

Phase III of cable TV digitization notified for urban areas

The Union Ministry of Communications & Information Technology notified the implementation of the Phase III of the digitalisation of the cable TV in India on December 8, 2015. As per the notification, Phase III of the digitization drive will be implemented in all urban areas in India from January 1, 2016. The digitization of cable TV services is under way in a phased manner in 4 phases. The Phase 3 of the digitization drive will be implemented from January 1, 2016.
