NinadG bro, its no DTH companies, its TRAI who has asked DTH operators to sell STB on Hire Purchase and Sale.

When Dish TV was launched, it sold STB outright but then regulations came DTH operators were asked to provide STB on a rental basis.

But since collecting back STB is not practical. Hence most of the DTH operators do not claims back their product. Also, when we live in rented flat if any thing happenes like water suppl, gas supply get disrupted its we who have to take care and not the owner.

IndianMascot Bro. Airtel does care about their Equipment's they force you to recharge or they will ask to return the equipment if not then they suspend your account so the whole product wasted for you.

Looks like they are huge warehouses and manpower to collect waste STB and store them. Otherwise when i asked d2h officials why they don't take back Box if we close connection they he told that taking back box and sending them back to factories is much costly then leaving it with customers.

So, they never collect STB unless someone demand refund for a dispute.

VPC price for HD customers is
599 - 1year
799 - 2 years

and for SD customers
it is Rs 499 and 699 for 1 year and 2 years respectively.

Remote is not covered in warranty.:/
