HELP Please Help Me Buy My First DTH

Hello Members,

I am from Ahmedabad, Gujarat. I currently have 2 TVs in my home. One is LG 32 inch LED TV..720P resolution (2014 model) and other is 15-16 inch LG CRT Colour TV.

I am planning to buy dth for my 1st TV

I am confused between Airtel, Dish and Videocon.

Following Specs are needed in DTH Box/Service

1) It should be HD Set top box

2) It should have Recording Option (via Pen drive)

Please guide me which one is the best. Also if someone can guide me what is Recording cost in Airtel and Dishtv, i would be greatful. I already know that it is 30 rs per month in Videocon.

As for d2h, you can opt for it as it has some really economical packs.Their HD boxes have recording facility from pen drive, but you can record only one programme at a time.Acivstion charges for this service are Rs.199 and subscription fees at Rs.30 per month.
Drawbacks include software which is little slow-y hough improved with recent software upgrade.
Regarding other two services, I expect comments from respective users.

Thanks..I see that Activation charge in Videocon D2H is now 100 rs with 3 months subscription free...Thus, in short Activation is free now if we count 3 months free subscription..

I think only Dishtv has USB recording on HD+ boxes without any charge.
Also there is some scheme going on for new customers.......new HD connection is for Rs 999.....

Thanks..yeah..i just saw that Airtel has also 20 rs per month charge ? Read it somewhere on the forum..

Btw, how is recording feature in all 3 ? Which one has best features ?

As far as Dishtv is concerned it is good.....you can Rewind / Pause / FF current channel......

1) Schedule Recording ? Means if i want to record 2 days in advance or even 5-6 hours in advance

2) Can we multiple record ? Recording 2 or more TV shows of same time slot in different channels while Set top box is on stand by mode

Also in Dishtv there is no HD Access Fee.....you can go for any ROI / South pack......
So please check the websites for channel pack content & then decide for the DTH as per your requirment.....

No...its possible only on HDD based DVRs......Dishtv don't have hard disk based DVR yet.......

For multiple recording , you need to have DVR. I guess no multiple recording is possible in normal HD boxes with USB recording.
