Actually they ended the movie midway. Nanawati won that case in reality, but in the last scene prosecution said they'll appeal in high court. They appealed, and in that case, Nanawati was found guilty...

Yes. Later on they appealed to higher court and I think he was granted 3 years terms.

He was given life imprisonment, but Nehru did the thing he invented in India, corruption! He was Nehru's family friend, so Nehru got him released after 3 years in jail...

He was sentenced to life imprisonment as it was a premeditated murder. However, he was pardoned in around 3 years. He then went and settled down in Toronto with his wife. I remember he died in 2003 .
