Bro, interlaced is encoding, it sound like 1080p but it is not. Only half 1080 horizontal resolution is displayed in a frame. While in 1080p it's always constant 1080p in every second. So in interlaced the data is interlaced to display both vertical and horizontal in one frame, so what you see is shared between vertical and horizontal resolution, while in progressive, it's constant 1080 in horizontal.

I don't know what makes you think theoretically or practically that 1080u is half of 1080p because I never witnessed or felt anything like this while watching them.
