Yes it is.. Amost same quality, but debatable, as human eye has different perceptions for different people. But one thing where 1080i cannot beat 720p is stability, especially in fast moving objects/sports..I know progressive scan is better.

Bro, interlaced is encoding, it sound like 1080p but it is not. Only half 1080 horizontal resolution is displayed in a frame. While in 1080p it's always constant 1080p in every second. So in interlaced the data is interlaced to display both vertical and horizontal in one frame, so what you see is shared between vertical and horizontal resolution, while in progressive, it's constant 1080 in horizontal.Interlacing is not half of progressive bhai. Reason you are unable to differentiate because both things are not available in Indian dth.
