I cannot believe this argument still continues. Content filmed for TV are shot in 16:9 and progressive scan is better than interlaced. I don't think it needs any argument it's a tech fact.

Bro, 1080i has same resolution as 1080p, but things are not the same when you care to dig in.

1080i, which is common among TV broadcasts uses 1920x1080 resolution at 30 frame per second. A 30 frame per second is what interlaced basically means. Progressive scan however has 60 frame per second. So you receive almost double the frame in progressive scan , which means double the data than interlaced scan. So in a given frame you only recieve 1920x540p of resolution in HD broadcast. So it is equal to 540p. But, it has 1980 of horizontal resolution that's why the picture seems clear to you. Technically a 1080i broadcast is only 540p.

I do understand pixels, but I don't think you do. It's not really 1080 pixels; with half the refresh rate, it's only 540 pixels. If you think 1080i is better than 720p just because you think it has more pixels, I'd say you've fallen for the false advertising or you're really stupid. If everyone is telling you that 720p is better than 1080i, it's because IT IS. If people tell you that the Earth is round, it's because IT IS. Use your brains dude, it is not used widely because it requires more bandwidth and resources. And that's why ONLY 720p, 1080p, or 2160p is used in movie stadiums; they don't used interlaced frames because it's quality is NOT better than that of progressive frames.

I am happy with 1080i because that's the only thing available in Indian broadcast. You enjoy 720p.

I have done that a lot of time and everytime it's concluded that 1080i is more superior and 720p is more worth.
