Thanks all for good words. In short, Tata Sky is like "Shadi ka Laddu" - khanewala bhi pachtaye... na khanewala bhi pachtaye (the sweet of marriage - person who eats it or who does not eat both regrets)...and if you are not in love with Tata Sky, you don't criticise it. I have not seen anyone criticising RDTV.

On this i do not agree with u. Constructive criticism is never wrong

There are million things to worry in this world and least of them is the DTH. Do remember that cost directly is proportional to the channel addition and don't blame ops if it happens.


I agree but if Videocon d2h can give 29 HD Channels and host of other SD channels at Rs. 570 why can't Tata Sky? Tata Sky charges Rs. Rs. 575 and still gives lot less SD and HD channels.

Both r operating in same country with same taxation, broadcasters and other things applicable. Its just that Tata Sky's policies r wrong , all this ''No Bandwidth'' excuse is a drama

why sony 40 tv price is not same as other brands??same inches and almost same features but still the price difference is huge.

Very simple,Big Brands like Sony, Samsung spend crores on ads and they try to get it back with inflated price. Videocon DDB LED's are much better than Samsung, Sony TV's and are priced low bcoz they don't waste unnecessary money and ultimately give their products at low price. Same way Tata Sky wastes money on so many ads not only for products but for their active services and other diff marketing things too and ultimately take it back from customers with inflated price. I am not ready to pay for such stupidity, basic need of channels is a must and if they fail on that front then its of no use.Most people are realizing this and this is why Videocon d2h has over 25 percent share in sales

Well some brands boast of being big and some r big but never boast. Videocon, Micromax, Toshiba, AOC, Vu too sells many TV's. Brands r built on basis of feedback from customers, I agree Tata Sky, Sony , Samsung have created a Big brand name but also other companies have a strong customer base. Don't just take ads or brand visibility as a yardstick to judge a brand bigger or smaller. Also FYI Sony's TV business is in high losses for last many years bcoz they kept themselves as Premium brand and ultimately people ditched them when they knew that they can get same thing at lesser price. Same will happen to Tata Sky if they keep increasing prices and give less content

Well true feelings Shiwesh Kumar Bro. constructive talk is allows and likeable too, domination is not good for anything. We can't expect d2h's channel count and its hardware from TS. Every DTH having some quality and we having a option to decide on it. No DTH forcing us to take their brand if you like go for it.

I very much agree and acknowledge Shiwesh Kumar views. And i also sharing same feeling for any DTH.

I may compromise on some wannabe channels but compromising on quality is unacceptable. Everyone knows that i am big fan boy of d2h but after using Tata Sky and its advanced features, i won't go back to d2h again unless i am compelled to use it.

More Price or less price. More channels or less channels, i am gonna stick to Tata Sky now because none have this kind of stable and bug free hardware.

I think all of you are right in some way. This is a known fact that content-wise tata sky is way behind (even if many other DTHs are behind in content, that does not make Tata Sky ahead). Several crucial SD and HD channels are missing. At the time when UHD is getting launched, remaining 40% behind in HD count is a big matter.

Now this is also a fact that on other factors than channel count, tata sky is way ahead. I guess all the members are saying and agreeing to this. Only thing is that the union of your individual opinions show complete picture of Tata Sky.

You have to also consider the factor that some of us have been associated with Tata Sky since 2006. And since 2010 they have been crying on space issue. Now either you don't cry or you resolve it. Depending on the period of wait, the level of frustration for different users can be different. We must respect that. 2010 to 2015 is a long time. Manhoman Singh becomes elected to a rejected PM in such span of time.

I left tata sky because of content and came back after trying other DTHs (dishtv, d2h, airtel). Left because of content shortage (example, Zee Cinema HD becomes available after 2years of launch, certainly I am not that patient person) and came back because none have such a quality product (although with limited content). Now my final solution is Tata Sky full Mega HD pack with 2 years subscription (because I know even in 2 years no one can beat tata sky in terms of quality of product. Unfortunately content is too low) and D2H with missing channels in form of a-la-carte. That overall works fine for me.

Final conclusion is - expectation is surely that if I have a mobile network subscription it must allow me to enable 2G, 3G, voice calling, SMS etc in all states of India. Meaning Tata SKy is a platform, then it must have all major channels at least which it does not. But we are yet to see a matured DTH industry in India (perhaps DTH portability can put some pressure) where DTH stops crying at least after 5 long years.
