One thing is for sure, as Insat 4A is dying TS can't just rely only on GSAT 10. So they might have planned for something but not revealed

During world cup TS users are facing these signal issues due to satellite transition. Really irritating. My father in law got irated last night in mumbai due to this.

Hope to see them back rocking as earlier days. I sold mine TS boxes to mine relatives after the service standards fell and lack of HD channels.

I think Tata Sky is trying to find out the exact number of consumer count whose Dish Antenna need alignment for proper signal. If they would be activating vertical polarity, then antenna should be adjusted vertically also which may not be done presently as engineer need to care only for horizontal frequency.
By doing this activity they will get the exact number if people who are facing signal issue and for the engineer will make visit and realign it correctly
And this must be a better way than visiting all consumers home and checking the alignment
