Well, both Airtel and Videocon have same issue with HBO Premium channels that they think their price is very high and most customers won't subscribe to them. HBO is always ready to give the channels. Strange that Airtel think that SD feed will be subscribed at Rs. 79/month but HD would not be at Rs. 99/month while Videocon has completely ignored all possibilities. From July when HBO Premium chs are distributed by STAR India then we might see addition on Videocon while Airtel will add it before that as talks r on

The price is too much, no doubt about it. It's better for HBO to make the channels a normal channel from ad-free. There is less ad on HD channels already. I am sure they will make more money from ad-revenues than subscription amount.

True. HBO Premium air movie premieres after many months or many times after on year of its release plus same comes withing few days after it on HBO India. Just for being Ad Free and airing HBO Originals Rs.99/month is very high. They should become a Normal HD channels with little ads. SD Feed at Rs. 79/month toh makes no sense to me

Then they will have to run behind TRP thing......which would affect content......now they can experiment & show movies from many genre .....
The launching of HBO may have created a devoted viewership for ad-free channels & this liking may increase further.....
But I agree about price which is not properly devised taking in to consideration viewers ability to pay & also content......

I think as now STAR power is behind HBO, so we may see addition of these channels on others....may be compelling addition.......

Its a less profitable too since Indian DTH has been used in Pakistan and Sri Lanka and no ground facility for Broadcasters to earn some bucks tats a reason. Broadcasters will not able to survive even if they charge Rs. 10 per channel there.
