I havnt know much about Dishtv but they have no dedicated Hard Disk Recording Box. Recording is only from USB.
But u can get Full On HD pack with lowest base pack to get all HD channels.
So I won’t be able to pause and rewind live TV, right?

Audio and video quality, you mean? Won’t it have 1080i video and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio output?
no. pq degrades in dish tv as well as in d2h.

u can do one thing to save ur costs more :

purchase dhamaal mix pack of 250 rs + hd acess is free for 12 months @ 4300 rs only
n then u can add many ad ons as much u want so that ur costs ll b a little less from what u said in above posts

u can add english movies pack + english GECs pack n u ll get all the correspondent hd channels free.
so it ll save ur cost a more.

This is actually a decent idea, but I'll just go all out. That's the best option, really.

I just booked a Tata Sky+ HD Transfer box. I plan to use it for two months on a monthly basis and then move to the Mega HD pack from 2016 onwards. Thanks for all your help. :)

English Channels are best viewed in HD as they are shot with good quality cameras too.
The High definition is best serviced by Tata Sky many would agree on that.
