Viral smartphone game 'Pokemon GO' has made it into 100 different countries, and has been downloaded several million times on iPhones and Androids. With the exception being few countries like India, South Korea, South Africa and China.
Popular game is raked top positions in the app charts of iOS and PlayStore in the US, UK, Australia and other regions where the game was officially released.

While in India, the games have been waiting impatiently since the launch of the game in the first week of July, they were able to get a taste of it by sideloading the application on Android phones, or switching their app store region on their iPhones/iTunes account.

However in a recent blog post by the game developer Niantic, said that it has heard the requests from Indian players, and it is working hard to release the game soon in regions where it isn't available yet.

Post signed by John Hanke, CEO of Niantic and the team, highlights various experiences and individuals playing the game and the positive changes it has made in their lives. Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall!

Since a time-frame hasn't been specified it can only be speculated to arrive on Indian app stores in the coming weeks.

In another interview at Tech Crunch Disrupt, CEO, John Hanke, mentioned that it is tightly working with countries and governments to bring the game to everyone possible. This could be another hint at releasing the game in the regions of China or any disputer region.

In the same interview he also mentions that approximately every two weeks there will be an update pushed from the team, and there are many features to be expected in the future to what is now a 'bare minimum' game.

Niantic last Saturday released a new update with a big feature called 'Buddy pokemon' but the staged roll out caused a lot of confusion amongst the players.

Pokemon GO Plus, an app-accessory, is also made available for the players in the US, UK and some other countries. Not available in India as of now.

It is also reported that the game would support the newly announced Apple Watch Series 2 & Android Wear.

Pokemon GO sure has changed the landscape of how we play games on our smartphones, but what it has to offer in future will also be interesting to see.
