what is churn rate?
deactived users are counted as churn user, so churn rate is calculated startly on basis of new subscriber addition. Suppose a dth add 100 customer and from that 10 user stop using service its called 10% churn.

Little clarification bro.

Churn means those customers who have left the network. A person who stops using service or stop recharging is still a subscriber but called inactive or suspend subscriber.

Where as churned subscribers are those whose account are permanently closed.

So, most or the DTH subscriber do not churn customers and keep them as inactive. Keeping them as inactive has 2 advantages.

1. They are still counted in their subscriber base.

2. This count is excluded when any channel is to paid as CPS

same as telecom operator. They called churn sim after it give to another user. But in this way ts has 0% churn rate? As they never deactivate permanent. Correct me if i am wrong

This is why fingerprinting is used by all broadcasters. Fingerprinting not only helps control piracy, instead it helps them tracking no of boxes been no used to watch their channels.

I don't know the exact process but roughly there is a mechanism to send fingerprinting codes and they bounce back to them. All such codes which do not bounce back are categorised as illegal and they apply further detailed analysis.

And I have read in some regulation that inactive base isn't counted in CPS
