Simple logic... there can be only three types of HD channels,

1. Which has an obvious SD counter part. Examples, Sony, Colors, Zee TV, Zee Cinema, Star Cricket, ESPN etc. - For them apply HD Access Fee, no issues.
2. Which has no obvious SD counter part. Till few days back MTunes HD, Star World Premiere HD, Ten HD. Then allow them in a-la-carte only, call them Specials or whatever you feel. Otherwise, declare an interim SD counter part for clarity. But do not ask to subscribe full ad on pack as well as HD Access Pack at the same time. And for A-la-carte also HD Access Fee can not come into picture.
3. Some HD channels can be premium services, here also I am with Tata Sky to have a specials category for channels like Star World Premiere HD, HBO Hits HD etc. No issues, but then how can they ask for HD Access Fee, which is solely for category 1 type of HD channels?

We are not only watching separate content but separate Advt also on HD channels. So, in no way SD channels are related to HD channels and hence HD access Policy holds no where by this logic.

Also, why didn't Tata Sky added SD version of Star World Premiere if they are adding the unofficial SD version of True HD Channel (M Tunes HD)
...And Movies Now SD :) History SD...I am not sure, but guess these are also just downgraded SD versions of HD channel and not separate SD channels as such?

@bhatt sir,

They have violated the HD Access Rule, by allowing Mtunes HD available if you subscribe "Music Pack", by allowing Ten HD with subscription of Ten Pack. Or by asking to have HD Access Fee for Star world HD (since there is no counter SD, it should be clean a-la-carte with no question of HD Access Pack).
Well i have stated their point only..
I think now they r providing M Tunes SD for M Tunes HD There was no M Tunes SD , so provided M Tunes HD in music pack .
Well Just thinking if there is no HD Access policy ?
May be No SD channel of same HD Channel even if we subscribe HD , they might restrict/reduce the number of HD Channels in Base Packs as they have right to do that once remove HD access policy , every one has to subscribe desired HD Channels ala carte only paying heigh price which any one cant restrict them , They might start new HD Packs with heigh price .. and we have to suffer ..

Perfect, In that case Tata Sky should reduce the HD access fee everytime they declare a channel as " Special " and exclude it from HD access fee funda.

Yeah, exactly. So, why don't they save the insanity and add Star World Premiere and TEN HD in SD version too. Let we subscribe the SD version and HD access fee and provide HD version of both these channels.

SWP would be only in HD and only TS can downscale it if HD access policy applied.

To be fair with its own policy, Tata Sky will have to adopt one of these options.

1. Make available counter SD of every added HD channel. OR
2. If there is no counter SD, declare that channel as Specials OR
3. Abolish HD Access Fee policy.

They can't apply HD Access Fee on specials anyway, that is against the policy itself. But in case of Star World Premiere HD, they have done so. I see no logic whatsoever.

It's a stupid idea of downgrading a HD channel to SD. So it is better for TS to come up with HD packs and remove this HD access as many HD channels have no SD counterpart.
