Do they charge for Service?

I apologize for the statement. Electricity Meter is on rent not by sale. But my point is all the rental service provider serve the technical maintenance free of cost. Anyway I don't want to argue for this point. I just expressed my view and till stand on my point. DTH Service providers are taking charge of maintenance which is illegal. Even I asked to D2H the same question even to their technician but they can't explain me in any logic.

Every service provider have service visit charges. Be it LG, Samsung or Sony. Although we own this products but that hardly matters and still be have to pay as per their charges. So, dth operators charging for same can't be termed illegal.

Simply No. Do you have paid earlier to your Cable operator any maintenance charge for your cable service? Then what we are using now? Simply the upgraded technology of Cable Service that's why we already paying too much cost than earlier. So, all cost should be included by the DTH companies within my recharge amount.

That's another issue. They sold me a TV or Washing Machine or what ever else with a minimum warranty. After the warranty period there is no relation with the company and we have to pay the paid maintenance. But here the DTH Service provider serve us the Digital Cable service with a Prepaid or Postpaid charge for which they provide us a STB with a cost just like Telephone or Electricity service I told earlier. Here all maintenance should be bothered by the DTH company. That's all.

There is no comparison between local Cable wala and DTH companies, Cable wala carries a particular Zone / Block like that but DTH companies carries whole Country they assign Franchise to solve the problem its upto that Franchise whether they adopt good technicians and poor 3rd class ones but DTH have to share amount with Franchise which is not the case of LCO that LCO sets to pay to MSOs get the STB and its upto LCO whether he used high quality Cables given by MSO or 3rd Class Ones already LCO's looting MSO's by the name of connections then there is no comparison comes between DTH and LCOs.

Things are simple. DTH promises a better service cable and it has some terms and conditions. One simple thing is if you dont like its terms and conditions, we are free not to opt for this and continue enjoying pathetic cable services.

May be you were lucky That your cable operator was cooperative With you but most of us had very very bitter experiences with cable operators and that's why we moved to DTH.

Mine lco was a political goon and he never bothers to send his person on time. No one can shout on him as he will double shout on people.

So, keep requesting him till days weeks till he didn't sent his men.

So, I decided to get rid of this and moved to DTH.

Now since I am have purchased a dth connection, I own each and every thing of it. So if anything goes faulty and I need to get t it fixed I have to contact service provider and pay for it. What wrong in that? It work like this only.

This is how TV, fridge and other things work too.

You should be thankful to dth providers that they offer discount and you have scope of redressal on your level otherwise there are companies like Sony who don't even give their customer care email to customers and there is no one available if service centre deny or do something bad.

Where as in DTH you have every company CEO I'd and you can screw the engineer or service centre if they denied you service.

I agree with you...
DTH companies use legel jargon in their service contracts which many people don't understand.
I remember reading on Dishtv website few months back that they offer 3 types of schemes for purchasing hardware something like Hire Purchase & sale. If you want to actually own the system them the cost of hardware is very high which I think is almost double the normal price.
Normally we take it granted that we are the owner of the hardware like STB but I think legally we don't own it.
DTH don't bother to collect hardware after customer stops recharging as they have already got the amount from customer. But still rogue DTH like Airtel keeps harrasing customers for STB.

It's like living in an owned house where we are responsible for upkeep. But if we are living in a rented house then owner has to take care of atleast fixed costs.

So purely speaking legally, I think if we don't own the DTH hardware then DTH companies are responsible for it, as in the case - in many countries where DTH companies own the hardware & is provided to customer.

Tats the another ugliest part of DTH NinadG Bro. well pointed out. But I saw only airtel do such dirty laundry with customers and harass them to return the equipment's tats the reason they having very less churn rate and dishtv having more because they don't ask for atleast I don't saw such matter.
